    Welcome to the Land of the Pharaohs.
    Following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection, a Cox & Kings local representative will meet you as you exit the arrival terminal. You will be escorted to your hotel for 3 nights stay.

    The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

  • Day 3 - Cairo

    Activities - Enjoy full day sightseeing tour.

    Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, after which you will commence your journey into the Land of the Pharaohs.

    Activities - Visit Memphis - the ancient Capital of Egypt.

    Our first stop is the city of Memphis (approximately 25 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes), the ancient capital of Egypt.

    Activities - Proceed to Saqqara.

    Later we proceed to Saqqara which features numerous pyramids , including the world-famous Step Pyramid of Djoser. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch at a local restaurant.

    Activities - Visit the Great Pyramids of Giza.

    We continue tovisit the Great Pyramids of Giza. Marvel at the iconic Cheops - one of the oldest and largest pyramid on the Giza plateau, Chephren and Mykerinos, and the defending Sphinx - one of the most majestic and enduring monuments of Egypt. Stop by at the Solar Boat Museum. Lastly get a slice of the desert life with a short camel ride.

    The rest of the evening is at leisure.

    Activities - Visit the Khan El Khalili Bazaar.

    In the afternoon, visit the Khan El Khalilil Bazaar, Cairo's most important shopping area for artefacts.

    After the buffet breakfast, the rest of the morning is at leisure or select an optional morning activity.

  • Day 5 - Cairo to Luxor (Cruise Embarkation)

    After the buffet breakfast, you will be transferred to Cairo Airport from where you will board your domestic / internal flight to Luxor.

    Activities - Embark your 5-star cruise along the Nile.

    Upon arrival in Luxor, proceed to embark on your 5-star cruise along the Nile. After embarkation you will be escorted to visit the Luxor and Karnak Temple..

    Activities - Visit the Luxor and Karnak Temple.

    Luxor Temple: Located on the east bank of the Nile River, the Luxor Temple is a large Egyptian temple complex dedicated to the Egyptian God Amon.It is one of the best preserved ancient monuments with intricate carvings.

    Karnak Temple: One of the world's largest temple complexes -The Karnak Temple was considered as the most sacred place of the ancient Egyptians. The temple consists of numerous pillars and columns. A distinct feature of this temple is the Hypostyle hall which features 134 columns and is still considered as the largest room of any religious building in the world.

  • Day 6 - Onboard the Nile Cruise

    Activities - Explore the Valley of the Kings.

    Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board, after which we proceed to visit the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple, followed by a stop at the Colossi of Memnon.

    Valley Of the Kings: Declared a UNESCO World HeritageSite In 1979 , "the Valley of the Kings" is home to magnificent Royal Tombs of most the pharaohs. The tombs depict an extensive preparation for the Next world complete with all material possessions the ruler would require after life. The most famous tomb discovered here was that of King Tutankhamun. One of the largest tombs in the Valley of the Kings is that of Ramses II. It consists of a deep sloping entrance corridor leading to pillared chamber. The corridors then breaks into a decorated burial chamber with multiple side chambers.

    Activities - Visit the Hatshepsut Temple.

    The Temple Of Hatshepsut: Situated in the Valley of the Kings, The Temple of Hatshepsut is considered as one of the most impressive monuments. The temple is a three storey structure with each level describing the achievements of the longest ruling female Pharaoh Queen Hatshepsut . It is ordained with statues and relics that have been restored over a period of time.

    Colossi Of Memnon: The Colossi of Memnon are two huge stone statues on the west bank of the River Nile.These statues portray the pharaoh in a seated position looking eastwards towards the river.Reaching a height of approximately 18 meters, these statues are made from quartzite sandstone.

    Activities - Set sail to Edfu.

    Later we set sail to Edfu. Enjoy the rest of the day on board the cruise.

    The Temple of Hatshepsut
  • Day 7 - Onboard the Nile Cruise

    Activities - Visit the Temple of Horus, Edfu followed by a stop at the Kom Ombo Temple.

    Today after breakfast we will explore the Temple of Horus, Edfu . We then continue our journey to Kom Ombo the home of Sobek , the crocodile God who was worshipped in the pre-dynastic times.

    Temple of Horus: Also known as the Temple of Edfu, this ancient temple is dedicated to the falcon Headed God - Horus. It is the second largest temple in Egypt. The striking feature of this temple is the open courtyard with the stone structures that have plant inscriptions on them. Another unique feature is the Hypostyle hall that leads to the twelve columns. One of the most well preserved monuments the walls of this temple contains vast information of the language, religion and myth of the Greek - Roman period in Ancient Egypt.

    Temple of Kom Ombo: The temple of Kom Ombo is a double temple dedicated to the Falcon headed God Horus and The Crocodile God Sobek. Mythology states Sobek made his abode in Kom Ombo, where there were a huge number of crocodiles. Captive Crocodiles were kept within the temple and many mummified crocodiles have been found in cemeteries and some in the temple sanctuary.

  • Day 8 - Onboard the Nile Cruise

    Activities - Discover Aswan.

    The marvelous sights of Aswan await us today! Visit the High Dam, Philae Temple and Unfinished Obelisk. Enjoy the afternoon on a 'Felucca' - a traditional Egyptian sail boat.


    The High Dam Aswan: Built in 1970, The Aswan High Dam is a majestic structure constructed across the Nile, situated just north of the border between Egypt and Sudan. The dam not only controls the flooding but also generates electricity consumed by most of its population that lives along the banks. Further the construction of the dam led to the formation of Lake Nasser - The world's largest artificial lake. However this ambitious project also resulted in the relocation of Nubian Nomadic tribe of Sudan and several Egyptian peasants.

    Temple Of Philae: The Temple of Philae was dedicated to the Egyptian Goddess Isis. Originally constructed on the island of Philae, the temple was move to its present location on Agilkia Island due to the flooding of the Lake Nasser. The temple is distinguished by the two huge gateways and the pillared columns visible from the shore. A sight to behold is the Kiosk Of Traja, locally known as the Pharaoh's Bed that was main entrance into the temple from the river.

    Unfinished Obelisk: Housed in the granite quarries of Aswan is the Unfinished Obelisk. It was supposed to be the largest and the tallest obelisk erected in Egypt. The gigantic structure was carved directly out the bed rock and cracks began to surface on the granite leading to the incompletion of the project.

    Botanical Gardens: Set sail in a local felucca around the Elephantine Island to get an outside view of the Botanical Gardens which is enriched with flora by plants that were imported from all over the world.

Booking Procedures

Please read the conditions of travel as your booking is subject to the terms and conditions listed below. A contract is entered into, once East India Travel Company, Inc. (Cox & Kings) accepts and confirms the booking. Please note that travel arrangements are not confirmed until stated so in writing by Cox & Kings. Payment of any monies constitutes acceptance and understanding of Cox & Kings' Terms & Conditions, as listed on our website and in our pre travel documentation.

Payments / Supplement Payments

For special offers on websites such as travelzoo.coxandkingsusa.com, if any payment including supplement payments (if applicable) are not received on time, Cox & Kings reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled by you and to levy cancellation charges.

If the final balance is not received on time, Cox & Kings reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled by you and to levy cancellation charges. If you book your travel 90 days or prior to departure, the full amount of your trip must be paid in order to confirm the booking.

For any air tickets handled by Cox & Kings, full payment is required at time of booking in order to secure the fare quoted.

  • 100 % advance payment at the time of booking.

Alterations by You

If you request any amendments to your travel arrangements once your booking has been confirmed, an amendment fee may apply. If you request any changes in services or accommodation, once commencement of travel, Cox & Kings will do all possible to accommodate your request, however, any costs incurred due to such amendments, you will be liable for any cancellation / retention charges that may be levied for the previously booked service and for any costs incurred to secure revised arrangements. Any alteration made will be treated as a tailor made booking and subject to different terms and conditions.

Cancellation by You

Should you wish to cancel your travel arrangements, you must notify Cox & Kings in writing to travelzoo@coxandkingsusa.com. Please note that deposits are refundable minus a per person administrative fee of $400 if the cancellation is received more than 91 days prior to departure. Please state the reason for cancellation as you may be covered by your insurance policy. For notification received within 90 days of departure, the following cancellation charges are applicable:

  • 60 days to 31 days - 50% of total land program price + 100% of airfare
  • 30 days to day of departure - 100% of total land program price + 100% of airfare

Airfares for different cities other than listed cities

If you are flying from a different city other than the listed (New York, Boston ,Chicago Washington Houston, Los Angeles San Francisco ) in our offers, we can provide you with airfares . Airfares are dynamic in nature so the fare at the time of issuance of ticket would be final and subject to availability. The cancellation policy will be different for these departures than the listed gateways.

Unutilized services

We cannot give any allowance or refund for meals, rooms, excursions, etc. that have not been consumed or utilized, when these services have been included in the price of the program. No refund can be made on lost, mislaid or destroyed travel tickets. Any air tickets issued at any time are subject to the terms of the airline. To protect your investment, we strongly recommend that you purchase full coverage travel insurance at partner.allianztravelinsurance.com.

Alterations Made to the Scheduled Program

Travel arrangements are planned and secured in advance and so changes in itinerary content may be unavoidable. These changes may be due to circumstances amounting to “force majeure” or reasons beyond Cox & Kings' control. They could include but not limited to; delay in departure due to flight disruption, closure of a hotel, strikes, riots, natural occurrences, decisions by State / National Governments or Tourist Organizations that cause forced alterations to a planned itinerary, its duration, time spent in a city or requiring the need to remove a city or part of from the itinerary caused by a local occurrence or situation. In such cases, Cox & Kings will offer comparable alternative arrangements. If any of the circumstances listed above occur during the course of the program, we reserve the right to alter the scheduled itinerary accordingly and compensation cannot be paid. We will make every reasonable effort to provide the booked arrangements but minor changes may occur. If changes are significant we shall where possible, inform you or your travel agent before your departure. Please note that Cox & Kings cannot be held responsible for any price increases or surcharges caused by governmental action, additional taxes imposed, fluctuations in exchange rates, increases in scheduled airfare or increases in fuel surcharges should Cox & Kings need to pass along these increases. Any increase in the original program price will be notified to you at least 91 days before departure. If you make your booking within 90 days of departure, the surcharge will be included in your invoice. Any surcharge will not exceed 10 percent of the listed program price.

Documentation Required For Travel: Passports, Visas and Your Responsibilities

Passport

All travelers require a passport with at least six months validity beyond completion of travel.

Visa

An Egyptian visa is required for Americans visiting Egypt. Egyptian visas can be applied for here in the United States prior to travel to Egypt, or on entry at the Cairo International Airport. If applying for a visa on arrival at Cairo Airport, the approximate cost is $25 per person.

The client accepts full responsibility for obtaining all travel documentation, including but not limited to passport, entry visa and permits prior to commencement of travel and is solely responsible for any consequences resulting from missing or defective documentation. Travel Warnings

It is the responsibility of the Traveler to become informed about the most current travel advisories and warnings by referring to the U.S. State Department's travel website at www.travel.state.gov or by phone at 1-888-407-4747. In the event of an active State Department Travel Warning against travel to the specific destination location/s of the trip, should the Traveler still choose to travel, notwithstanding any travel advisory or warning, the Traveler assumes all risk of personal injury, death or property damage that may arise out of the events like those advised or warned against.

What Your Program Price Includes and Excludes

Please refer to each program which lists the Inclusions & Exclusions. There are separate Inclusions & Exclusions for land + air programs and separate Inclusions & Exclusions for land only programs.

Cox & Kings' Limits of Responsibilities

Except where otherwise stated in these Terms & Conditions, neither Cox & Kings nor any Third Party Supplier can accept liability or pay compensation where our performance of our or our supplier's contractual obligations is affected by or you otherwise suffer any damage or loss as a result of force majeure. In these terms and conditions force majeure means any event which we / the supplier of the service(s) or the third party supplier could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may include but not be limited to; actual or threatened war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, epidemics, fire, and all similar events outside the control of the party concerned.

Cox & Kings makes arrangements with airlines, hotels and other independent parties to provide the travel services you purchase. We do not own or operate any of the accommodation, transport or other facilities used in connection with our programs. We therefore cannot accept liability for negligence of the staff of these organizations. These parties are independent suppliers over whom we have no direct control. Cox & Kings is not liable in the event of any failure by any person or company to render any transportation, accommodation or other travel service to be provided on the journeys, or for expenses incurred due to delays caused by weather, strikes, war, civil disturbances, natural disasters, flight delays, government actions, mechanical failures or any acts of God. Cox & Kings cannot assume any responsibility for flight delays, cancellations or missed connections and is not liable for any expenses or consequences resulting therefrom, and such expenses are to be borne by the traveler. When you travel with an airline the Conditions of Carriage of that airline will apply. These conditions are the subject of International Agreements and may limit or exclude liability. Your travel agent or airline can advise you of these conditions. The participant waives any claim against Cox & Kings for any damage to, or loss of, property, or injury to, or death of, due to any act, or negligence of any airlines, surface transportation companies, hotels or any person rendering any of the services or accommodations included. Cox & Kings cannot be held responsible for any claim, losses, damages for delay of baggage or other properties, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, upset and disappointment, distress or frustrations, whether physical or mental, resulting from the act or omission of any party providing services.

The participant assumes and understands that all travel has an inherent risk that may result in injury or death from participation in activities, including but not limited to, driving, hiking, walking, touring, visiting archeological sites, walking on uneven surfaces, riding on rough roads, rafting, boating, canoeing riding in helicopters, on trains, boats, swimming, surfing, horseback or camel riding and any other activities. Participant knows and is familiar with the activities in their itinerary and is able to confirm that they meet the physical requirements to participate.

All services are subject to the laws of the countries in which these services are rendered. Venue for all claims or disputes shall be exclusively in Los Angeles County, California, U.S.A., whose courts, using California Law, shall have exclusive jurisdiction. Damage claims against Cox & Kings shall be limited to the value of the particular item in dispute and not for any incidental, consequential, or special damages. Cox & Kings assumes no responsibility for representations made by others including, but not limited to, any employee of Cox & Kings or independent travel agent. Payment for reservations on any Cox & Kings travel arrangements shall constitute consent to all the provisions in the Booking Terms & Conditions published herein and is binding on all travel participants.

United States Tour Operators Association - $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program

Cox & Kings, The Americas, as an Active Member of USTOA, is required to post $1 Million with USTOA to be used to reimburse, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the USTOA $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program, the advance payments of Cox & Kings, The Americas' customers in the unlikely event of Cox & Kings, The Americas bankruptcy, insolvency or cessation of business. Further, you should understand that the $1 Million posted by Cox & Kings, The Americas may be sufficient to provide only a partial recovery of the advance payments received by Cox & Kings, The Americas.
