The Tango tradition started at the end of the last century, developing from a mixture of various rhythms, which were originally danced in the poorer quarters. In the beginning Tango was only danced by men, accompanied by flutes, violins and guitars. The flutes were later replaced by the "bandoneon" (a type of accordion), which gave the Tango its distinctive flavor. Reflecting the nostalgia and melancholy of mostly European immigrants, the tango brought up some great musicians, such as Astor Piazzolla and Anibal Troilo.

In the early evening, depart from the hotel to La Ventana tango house.

Tango lessons: La Ventana is one of the most authentic tango houses in the heart of San Telmo neighborhood, tango lesson takes place in a wonderful French style room, fully equipped.

The construction of Orla Conde, the city's new shore (3.5 km long promenade) outlining the Guanabara Bay, rescued the area allowing people to enjoy a place that that was previously restricted to the Marine officers. Open for pedestrians and cyclists, it's an invitation for relaxing and contemplating that gives the visitors the opportunity of seeing the city from a new angle. We believe that the revitalization of this area is one of the most important legacies of the Olympic Games to our city. This is the new Port Zone, the so-called "Porto Maravilha".
